The purpose of National African Immigrant and Refugee HIV and Hepatitis Awareness (NAIRHHA) Day is to bring national and local attention to the HIV and viral Hepatitis needs of African immigrants living in the U.S. in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. The creation of a national awareness day will also support the eradication of other epidemics fueling or related to HIV disparities among African immigrants, including Tuberculosis, Substance Use and Mental Health.

On Sept. 9th we want to have a big impact on social media; hence we are hosting a thunderclap, which is an online tool that allows you and others to share the same message on the same day and time across Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Think of it as an online flash mob. This is an extremely effective way to recognize  as NAIRHHA Day!
