PUBLIC POLICY & ADVOCACY

An array of public policy issues can support or hinder our community's ability to stop the AIDS epidemic. These can include issues related to: access to health care; quality of care and services; legal and regulatory concerns regarding people with HIV; HIV funding at municipal, state, and federal levels; substance abuse public policy; incarceration policy; immigration policy; and public policy affecting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people.  MAC commits to a community process of defining shared priorities for public policy advocacy and mobilizing the community to affect changes.

As a part of this effort, MAC is a member of several local and national coalitions dedicated to impacting policies affecting people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS.
